Description

Licensed Commercial Electrical Foreman

Pleasanton / Greater Bay Area, CA

About the Company

Degryse Electric, Inc. is a full-service commercial electrical contractor headquartered in Pleasanton and serving Northern California. Since 1982, the company has built long-term relationships across its customers, vendors, employees, and community. Its work includes commercial service, new construction, tenant improvements, retail remodels, restaurants, and design/build projects, with experience across retail, medical offices, industrial facilities, warehouses, and other commercial environments.

Role Summary

Degryse Electric is seeking an experienced Licensed Electrical Foreman who can lead multiple commercial projects while developing the electricians around them. This is a high-accountability Foreman position combining hands-on electrical expertise with project planning, material coordination, crew leadership, client communication, and mentoring. The right person will be comfortable overseeing several smaller, fast-moving projects rather than relying on a single-job management model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately 2–4 active commercial electrical projects simultaneously.
  • Plan, organize, and deploy crews across multiple locations.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, layouts, and electrical plans.
  • Break project scopes into executable field plans and proactively identify conflicts or unanswered questions.
  • Order and coordinate materials, tools, and equipment across active projects.
  • Provide clear direction to journeymen and apprentices working independently at different sites.
  • Monitor progress remotely and in person and maintain reliable field reporting.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, superintendents, vendors, and construction partners.
  • Maintain NEC, OSHA, quality, and jobsite safety expectations.
  • Track changes, project issues, documentation, and closeout requirements.
  • Perform hands-on commercial electrical installation when required.
  • Actively mentor apprentices and journeymen and help prepare high-potential employees for future Foreman responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • California State Certified General Electrician credential.
  • Extensive commercial electrical experience, ideally 10+ years for the senior profile.
  • Proven Foreman or senior lead-electrician experience.
  • Career history substantially concentrated in commercial electrical construction.
  • Strong blueprint and plan-reading capability.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple active jobs and crews.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-union commercial electrical career background.
  • Formal electrical apprenticeship/trade-school training.
  • Experience with tenant improvement, medical, office, retail, restaurant, and tech-related commercial projects.
  • Experience developing apprentices and journeymen into leadership roles.
  • Background with a smaller commercial contractor managing fast-turn projects.

Success Metrics

  • Projects remain safely staffed, supplied, organized, and on schedule.
  • Multiple jobs can operate effectively without requiring the Foreman to physically remain at every site.
  • Plans and scope issues are identified and resolved proactively.
  • Clients and internal leadership receive timely, accurate communication.
  • Apprentices and journeymen demonstrate measurable technical and leadership development.
  • Foreman builds a repeatable operating approach that can eventually support progression into a General Foreman-level role.

Why Join

  • Take on broader leadership responsibility than a traditionally segmented Foreman position.
  • Help shape Degryse's next generation of Foremen.
  • Clear potential to grow toward future General Foreman responsibility.
  • Join an established Bay Area contractor operating since 1982.
  • Competitive existing compensation range of approximately $135,200–$176,800, depending on experience.
  • Benefits include health coverage, 401(k) match, profit sharing, PTO, company vehicle/gas card, and professional development.
