Senior Revenue Analyst

Location: Onsite – Pleasanton, California

Overview

The Senior Revenue Analyst supports STN’s revenue accounting function, with a focus on revenue recognition, contract review and analysis, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role partners closely with the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager to ensure accurate revenue reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Recognition & Contract Analysis
  • Review customer contracts and sales orders to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Analyze contract terms, including performance obligations, transaction price, timing of revenue recognition, contract modifications, and principal-versus-agent considerations.
  • Prepare and maintain revenue recognition analyses and supporting accounting documentation.
  • Research and resolve revenue accounting issues and escalate complex or judgmental matters as appropriate.
Revenue Accounting & Financial Close
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for deferred revenue, unbilled receivables/contract assets, accounts receivable, and other revenue-related accounts.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, revenue schedules, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis.
  • Review revenue transactions in NetSuite for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
Cross-Functional Support & Process Improvement
  • Partner with Sales Operations and other business teams to obtain contracts and supporting documentation needed for revenue recognition.
  • Coordinate with Accounting and cross-functional teams to resolve revenue and reconciliation differences.
  • Support improvements to revenue accounting processes, controls, documentation, and reporting.
  • Assist with accounting research, special projects, and ad hoc analysis as needed.

Experience & Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years of revenue accounting or revenue recognition experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, journal entries, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with large datasets and reconciliation schedules.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer contracts and translate commercial terms into accounting conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet month-end and quarter-end deadlines.
Preferred
  • Experience with technology, managed services, hardware/software resale, subscription, or professional services
  • revenue.
  • Experience performing principal-versus-agent / gross-versus-net assessments.
  • Experience with contract assets, deferred revenue, and contract liability reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting external financial statement audits.
  • Experience improving revenue accounting processes and internal controls.
  • CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus but not required.
Success Looks Like
The Senior Revenue Analyst will become a key contributor to the revenue accounting function by independently managing routine contract reviews, reconciliations, close activities, and supporting documentation. The individual will identify accounting issues early, maintain strong audit-ready support, and help ensure revenue is accurately reported in accordance with U.S. GAAP while escalating complex or judgmental matters to the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager.
