As a Network Engineer, you will be part of a team that oversees the global environment of Simpson Strong-Tie’s Network infrastructure. The primary focus of this role is to provide day-to-day operations design, support, and maintenance for existing and new On-Premises and Hybrid Cloud Network services. You will also assist in the completion of projects leveraging various on-prem and hybrid technologies that contribute to the overall success of the Simpson Strong-Tie Network infrastructure. Responsibilities include management of network infrastructure, including securing, optimizing and maintaining high availability (20%), monitoring network performance, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to on-premises and hybrid cloud network infrastructures and environments including participation in on-call rotations (20%), collaborating with multi-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for the network components of infrastructure projects (20%), working with consultants and vendors on projects and/or for additional support (20%), designing, deploying and maintaining on-prem & Hybrid Cloud networks and solutions ensuring scalability, reliability, and security (10%), and developing and maintaining automation scripts and infrastructure as code templates for deploying infrastructure resources (10%). Desired skills include a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, 5-7 years of experience in managing network infrastructure and network engineering of both on-premises and hybrid cloud environments, ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining current production workloads, basic understanding of public cloud infrastructures, experience with Python, PowerShell or other scripting languages, automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform, specific solution experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Aruba SD-WAN, ClearPass, Palo Alto Networks or similar technologies, experience with network monitoring solutions like ThousandEyes, SolarWinds or similar, excellent understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VPN, load balancing, and firewalls, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong communication and organizational skills, and preferred network certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional or public cloud network certifications. The position requires domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time and operates in a professional office environment. Relocation is not available for this position.
