POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered as a promised product or service, on schedule and within budget.  The Project Manager position investigates, analyzes, designs, develops, plans and coordinates work teams to implement cost effective solutions for technological needs.  Provides technical support and application expertise to project team members.  Handles complex application features and technical designs.  Investigates and assists in developing a proposed solution to business sponsored initiatives.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  High School diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in a related area is preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:  Valid Driver’s License required.

EXPERIENCE:  Required:  3 to 6  years’ experience in the field of Project management or in a related area required.  Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.  Experience with Microsoft office tools, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Must possess advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of Project management methodologies and tools.

Preferred:  Project Management experience leading complex application implementations within a healthcare environment.  Program management experience, and/or experience managing multiple application threads/projects at one time.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, and can present information to all types of audiences.
  • Facilitates collaboration between stakeholders and project team members who share common objectives.
  • Plans, schedules and monitors project tasks to meet time and established quality targets.

  • Has a good appreciation of the wider field of information systems and uses this information to guide project teams.
  • Maintains an awareness of developing Project management methodologies and their application and takes some responsibility for personal development.

  • Creates and executes project plans and revises as appropriate to meet approved changes to requirements.
  • Effectively applies AIT project methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
  • Holds regular status meetings with project team.
  • Keeps project team well informed of requested project changes
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to project sponsors.
  • Monitors and oversees adherence to approved project budgets.
  • Working directly with IT vendors to obtain estimates, quotes, project plans and contracts for vendor-related software, hardware, services and other system-related costs
  • Mentors and cross-trains staff to assist in their career development improves job satisfaction, and increase the collective expertise of the IT department.
  • Assumes Project Leadership in the planning, analysis, design, development and implementation of various information system projects.
  • Coordinates the selection and purchase of hardware/software and related equipment that meets business needs.
  • Serves as the “customer advocate” for a specific customer or business unit as appropriate.
  • Performs initial needs analysis on assigned information technology project requests.
  • Works with AIT technical and security team to ensure the proper integration of software/technology projects into AHS environment.
  • Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.
  • Adheres to AtlantiCare and AIT Policies and Procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is a potential for exposure to the hazards and risk within a hospital environment.  This includes exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.  This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time.  Spends time with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, copier, and telephone. Occasional driving also required.
