Purpose of Position:


Provide management with direct support through developing and interpreting financial information, participating in the making of current/long term decisions and providing guidance for all Del Monte accounting, other applicable policies, and procedures. Direct and control the activities of the plant administrative office. Ensure the accuracy of the plant’s financial records in accordance with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles.

Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities: Ensure product safety, quality and legality through enforcement of company policy and regulatory standards. Enforce company quality standards.

Accountabilities:

  • Direct the preparation, maintenance, and control of all manufacturing, warehousing, inventory, cost accounting, fixed asset, and financial records for assigned operations. Provide financial leadership and oversight across multiple facilities and distribution operations as assigned.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to finance managers and accounting personnel supporting manufacturing and warehousing operations. Ensure consistent application of accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting practices across locations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, and Warehouse Operations leadership to analyze inventory movements, warehousing costs, productivity metrics, transportation impacts, and network optimization opportunities.
  • Provide local / regional management and corporate with timely and accurate financial and operating information including the reporting, forecasting and analysis of cost variances and the review and control of capital expenditures.
  • As a member of the plant management team, participate in determining current and long-term objectives, plans, programs and budgets to achieve both plant and overall company objectives. 
  • Direct the preparation and control of annual operating plans and financial forecasts including variable and fixed costs, capital spending, plant related miscellaneous income and all balance sheet accounts.  Monitor performance against plan to ensure financial objectives are realized.  Provide plant, regional and corporate management with necessary information to track and control the timing and amount of all budgeted expenditures.
  • Direct monthly, quarterly and fiscal year financial closing activity, in compliance with corporate as well as SOX guidelines.
  • Monitor and control the plant's Balance Sheet to ensure all assets and liabilities are accurately reported and properly utilized.  Oversee the maintenance of materials and supplies, finished goods, and vendor managed inventory records to ensure the accuracy of the inventory control system and to minimize carrying costs.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard all plant assets and ensure that status for idle or obsolete assets is accurately stated. Provide for adequate segregation of duties and to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Enterprise Systems, IT, and Shared Services teams to ensure effective utilization of ERP, reporting, and financial systems. Support implementation of process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Provide support to plant operations pertaining to procurement activities.
  • Direct all raw product accounting functions, where applicable, to ensure accurate record keeping and timely grower payments.
  • Supervise, train and develop competent administrative staff.  Identify and develop potential succession candidates at all levels.  Perform salary administration, hiring and performance management activities.
  • Direct or assist in the preparation of special studies to determine the financial impact of improved productivity, efficiency or other cost effectiveness opportunities.
  • Provide accounting and finance support to the Plant Manager.
  • Ensure product safety through development, review and enforcement of company policy
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and corporate food safety regulatory standards
  • Review and enforce company quality standards provided by facility, regional and corporate quality authorities


Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor of Administration degree in Accounting.
  • SAP software experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in accounting with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
