Compensation: Towne Park is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The annual base pay range for this position is $223,000 - $250,000.

Benefits: Employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and telemedicine benefits. Employees are provided company-paid basic life and AD&D insurance as well as short-term and long-term disability. Employees are also able to enroll in the company’s 401k retirement savings plan.

Summary:

The Senior Hands-On Software Architect is responsible for defining and maintaining the technical architecture for the Nexity platform while remaining actively involved in software design, development, and code review. This role partners closely with engineering leadership, product management, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support Towne's strategic objectives.

This position combines strategic architectural leadership with hands-on technical execution, providing guidance to development teams while helping solve complex engineering challenges.

Descriptive Statement(s)

Define and maintain the overall architecture for the Nexity platform, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

Develop architecture standards, design patterns, and technical documentation to promote consistency across engineering teams.

Participate in software development, code reviews, and technical design discussions while maintaining high engineering standards.

Partner with software engineers to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify opportunities to improve system performance and scalability.

Design and review integrations with third-party applications, APIs, payment platforms, and enterprise systems.

Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineers across multiple teams.

Establish best practices for software architecture, security, testing, and deployment.

Support cloud architecture and infrastructure decisions within Microsoft Azure.

Promote the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and code quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

Work Experience:

  • 12 years of experience building production software, including 4+ years in a Software Architect or Principal Engineer role supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms. Experience with IoT, payment systems, access control, connected devices, or other physical-world integrations is strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Azure, .NET/C#, Angular, React, SQL Server, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, authentication/authorization, and modern cloud application design.
  • Demonstrated success designing scalable, secure, high-performing applications, including performance optimization, secure coding (OWASP/PCI DSS), API architecture, code reviews, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering standards.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., Claude Code), LLM engineering concepts including MCP, RAG, agents, structured outputs, guardrails, and applying AI to modern software development.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders, mentor engineering teams, and drive architectural decisions aligned with business objectives.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or equivalent certification preferred. Experience with Python, Next.js, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD, event sourcing, high-volume telemetry, and distributed or offshore development teams is a plus.

Authority to Act:

Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite directions and instructions. Decisions are of a routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies and procedures. Mistakes/errors may result in work stoppage, loss of business, poor customer relations and/or damage to product, all of which can have negative financial implications for the organization.

Working Environment

The majority of work will be performed in climate-controlled environment, but may be exposed to inclement weather and varying degrees of temperatures on occasion.

Travel

Travel of up to 10% may be required.
