About this Role
IFS InfraSource is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team.  Responsibilities include timely and accurate development of bids and proposals for the management and construction of underground gas & electric utility and renewable energy infrastructure construction in the Midwest and Eastern region of the US.Â
What You'll Do
- This role requires 20–30% travel for customer meetings, site visits, job walks, and regional business development supportÂ
- Review work requirements and scopes with local operations and project stakeholdersÂ
- Perform detailed estimating for underground utility and renewable energy infrastructure projects, including constructability considerations and project-specific methodologiesÂ
- Research and define cost elements including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project risksÂ
- Identify risks, develop contingencies, and proactively propose constructability solutionsÂ
- Prepare detailed written proposals including clarifications, exceptions, and assumptionsÂ
- Present draft estimates to upper management for review, risk assessment, and approvalÂ
- Submit final approved bids to customers within required timelinesÂ
- Maintain well organized estimate documentation and back up filesÂ
- Maintain strong communication with existing customers to support ongoing relationshipsÂ
- Collaborate with the Business Development team on key pursuits and large customer engagementsÂ
- Obtain a thorough understanding of project scope, construction methods, timelines, and customer expectationsÂ
- Attend pre bid or project scoping meetings, ask relevant project related questions, and accurately record customer responses and key discussion topicsÂ
- Conduct job site visits to evaluate site conditions, verify constructability, and gather information required for estimatingÂ
- Provide necessary project documentation to field operations, project management, and administrative staffÂ
- Participate in contract pre planning meetingsÂ
- Assist in preparing and submitting project or contract deliverables as required by customers and InfraSource internal processesÂ
- Support field personnel with developing and documenting change orders and negotiate resolutions with customers when disputes ariseÂ
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required including military service. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.Â
- Expert in MS Office Applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power PointÂ
- Expert organizer (notes, files, documents, etc.)Â
- Proficient in Technical Writing/CorrespondenceÂ
- Proficient in reading prints and performing quantity and material takeoffsÂ
- The successful candidate will be a self-starter who works well independently, takes initiative, and has strong relationship building skillsÂ
