CNC Machinist/Tool Room Technician

Job Overview

We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Tool Room Technician at our Plymouth, MN location who enjoys building high-quality tooling, solving problems on the fly, and helping others grow. If you're skilled with CNC equipment, confident reading blueprints, and ready to take a leadership role on the shop floor, this is a great opportunity to make an impact. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production-ready tooling, supporting manufacturing, and improving processes across the Tool Room.

Compensation

  • Starting Pay: $22.00 – $30.25 per hour (based on experience)
  • Overtime eligibility

Work Schedule

Full-time onsite role based in Plymouth, MN. First shift-7:00 am-3:00 pm; Monday-Friday

What You'll Do

  • Build, repair, modify, and maintain production tooling using CNC mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and hand tools
  • Troubleshoot tooling, assemblies, and production issues to minimize downtime
  • Read blueprints/drawings to assemble and construct tools accurately
  • Operate support equipment such as: Proto machine, 3D printer, polishing equipment to name a few
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tooling and maintain logs/documentation
  • Store, retrieve, and track tooling according to production schedules
  • Support and train Tool Room Technicians and CNC Operators along with new hires
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with the team to improve tooling systems and workflows

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with CNC machining and machine shop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use hand tools, gauges, and inspection equipment
  • 1–2 years of experience in Tooling, assembly, or mechanical repair
  • Machine shop or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment and hand tools
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English

Preferred Skills

  • CNC Operator experience
  • Experience with tooling/mold storage systems
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong organization skills
  • Leadership mindset and ability to train others

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8-hour shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Work performed in a tool room and manufacturing environment
