Position: Full-time / Salary / Onsite 5 days a week

Job Summary: 

The HR Generalist works directly with the HR Director and helps develop human resources policies and programs and directs the staff in managing and implementing programs that support employee engagement, productivity, and company objectives. Manages key HR functions, including recruiting, employee/labor relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, payroll, and employee records. Develops and delivers internal staff communications. Evaluates, selects, and manages relationships with vendors to provide supplemental HR processes and services. Maintains employee records of pay, benefits, accidents, performance, and other activities and files reporting required to comply with labor laws and regulations. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Recruitment process, including job posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offers. Facilitate new hire orientation, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Employee inquiries, grievances, and disputes. Mediate conflicts and conduct workplace investigations. 
  • Compliance & Policy Development: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO-1 reporting). Maintain and update the employee handbook, policies, and procedures.
  • Performance Management & Talent Development: Assist management with performance review processes, employee coaching, and disciplinary actions. Support career development and training initiatives.
  • HRIS & Records Management: Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Strategic Planning: Analyze HR metrics (turnover, headcount, compensation) to guide leadership decisions. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated experience in both tactical (generalist) and strategic (manager) functions.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, including payroll and benefits.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent coaching, and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using HR data to inform strategy.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leadership and influence decision-making.
  • Project management and organizational skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, Salary.com, Smartsheet’s) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication, empathy, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Prolonged Sitting/Computer Use: Extensive periods at a desk working on a computer.
  • Lifting: Frequently lifting/moving items up to 10-15 pounds, with some positions requiring up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Mobility: Frequent standing, walking, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Dexterity/Vision: Regular use of hands for handling, feeling, or operating office machinery, along with close-up vision for screen work.
  • Communication: Clear speaking and hearing ability to communicate with employees and management
  • Multi-Site Responsibility: Frequent travel to different office locations to support staff and management.
  • Talent Acquisition/Recruitment: May travel 25% or more for job fairs.
