Under the general direction of the N/C Programming Manager, the N/C Programmer 1 is responsible for generating CAD surfaces and developing N/C cutter-path programs used in the machining of production tools. The role primarily supports large-scale projects involving multiple components and assemblies. Responsibilities include determining machine set-up requirements, selecting appropriate cutting tools, and establishing machining sequences to ensure efficient and accurate operations. The position requires a thorough understanding of customer standards, established procedures, and CAD best practices. The N/C Programmer 1 is expected to complete assignments on schedule with minimal supervision and may be asked to verify or review the work of others.

The position requires regular consultation with functional managers at Dearborn Tool and Die (DTD) regarding new or evolving programs. The N/C Programmer 1 will communicate with, and support TDM/Ford product and manufacturing teams as needed and may provide guidance to manufacturing and technical managers as products and programs progress through production.

The incumbent is expected to maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies by consulting with peers, customers, and software/hardware suppliers. Regular communication with senior customer design and engineering managers regarding programs manufactured at DTD is required. The N/C Programmer 1 must keep the N/C Programming Manager informed of the status of all assigned work.

Participation in TDM/DTD productivity, quality improvement initiatives, and other continuous-improvement activities are required.
