Troy Design and Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. At TDM, we use 21st Century manufacturing processes such as 3D design and printing, laser cutting, and automation for prototype and low volume manufacturing of components of current and future Ford vehicles. At our Chicago modification center facility, we do state of the art vehicle modifications for multiple police interceptor platforms.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead design, development, and release of various components meeting vehicle targets, requirements, and cost targets ie: Spot lamps, Component mounting brackets, Underbody shields.
  • Plan and coordinate required component testing to confirm performance and durability. 
  • Evaluate/develop supplier parts to ensure product meets design targets and cost targets. 
  • Liaison to manufacturing, service and vendors to implement designs that are cost effective and manufacturing feasible. 
  • Basic program management to coordinate supplier and internal development to meet vehicle project timing.
  • Prepare and present financial 2-pager documents for any new or updated commodities
  • Support FMEA, DVP&R, interface to Release Engineer
  • Studio support for the packaging of all new feature content related to the project scope 
  • Knowledge of Ford design & release process World Engineering Release System (WERS), work effectively with multiple cross functional teams on the vehicle program.
  • Support the test engineers to prove out the design functions as intended and ensure all SDS requirements are met.
  • Support the development of in vehicle package locations by supporting the application teams with ideas and feasibility of attachment features and internal packaging constraints of the new features.
  • Track all related issues in the Ford AIMS system, resolve and close as required for each milestone.
  • Support the PPAP process with all the suppliers affected in order to meet the deliverables for the vehicle program.
  • Support the creation of the Device Transmittal (DT) for all the electrical features final assemblies and components to ensure compatibility.
  • Support the creation of core quality documents such as DFMEA, Boundary Diagrams, Interface Matrix, Significant & Critical Characteristics Approval Form (SCCAF), DVPR, etc for the new features’ groups 

Qualifications
Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, or related
  • 8 years of automotive experience 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Product Development Engineering experience
  • VisMockup/Digital Buck tool set
  • WERS experience
