Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless provides critical support to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Plymouth community. Our mission is to offer safe shelter, case management, and re-housing services that empower participants to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. We are committed to compassionate, person-centered care and strong partnerships with local resources to make a lasting impact. 

 

Position Summary 

The Residential Support Staff is responsible for daily interactions with shelter residents, ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and security of the facility. This role fosters a supportive and welcoming environment for all clients, responding to emergencies as needed and contributing to the overall success of the Coalition’s programs. 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Ensure safety and security of residents and facility 
  •  Enforce shelter rules and program policies 
  • Conduct client intakes and prepare rooms 
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis support 
  • Monitor security systems and facility areas 
  • Document client observations and concerns 
  • Maintain client privacy and professional boundaries 
  • Perform shift tasks and other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; accurate and timely documentation essential 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency 
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to the mission of the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless 

Preferred: 

  • Post-high school education or experience in a residential setting 
  • Experience working with homeless or low-income populations 

 

Skills & Knowledge 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Knowledge of shelter operations, safety, and security protocols 

 

Work Schedule 

  • Part Time - 8 Hour Shifts (Flexible) 
  • Shelter operates 7 days per week 
  • Weekday, evening, and weekend openings 
  • Rotating on-call schedule 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • In-person work 
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods 
  • Regular use of computer, phone, and office equipment
