Plymouth State University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice position that will support the Master of Science in Athletic Training and the Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences programs through teaching courses in both programs, serving as a clinical preceptor, and providing athletic training services for the athletics department. The MS degree in Athletic Training was established in 2002, and is a 2-year, 62-credit degree. The BS in Allied Health Sciences was designed to prepare students to pursue graduate education in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, among others. Qualified students in the BS in Allied Health Sciences may apply for early admission into the MS in AT, completing both programs in 3+2 (years). We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who is interested in teaching excellence in the classroom, service to the University, and collaboration with other faculty. The candidate will also be expected to advise undergraduate students. Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice Faculty positions are full time, 9-month, with benefits, and the teaching load is 30-32 credits per year.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Teaching across programs in the School of Health:
    • Teaching graduate courses in Athletic Training and undergraduate courses in Allied Health Sciences and / or across various related disciplines paralleling the applicant’s expertise in the School of Health. Depending on candidate expertise.
    • Possible graduate courses may include Upper Extremity Evaluation; Administration in Athletic Training; Research in Athletic Training. Possible undergraduate courses may include Introduction to Allied Health Sciences; Epidemiology and Evidence Based Medicine; Nutrition (and/or others).
    • Undergraduate student advising is expected as well as the possibility of assisting graduate students with research projects.
  • Clinical Preceptor and Athletic Training services to varsity athletics teams:
    • Serving as a clinical preceptor to students in the MS in AT program
    • Clinical mentor to AHS undergraduate students
    • Athletic trainer for 1-2 varsity athletics teams
  • Service to the School of Health and to the University

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Current expertise in athletic training education and the profession.
  • Earned masters degree in Athletic Training, Education, Kinesiology or other related field with broad preparation for teaching and leadership in athletic training education.
  • Previous clinical athletic training experience.  
  • Evidence of quality teaching experience.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • BOC certification and eligibility for NH State License as an athletic trainer.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Interest in high impact learning in an undergraduate and graduate setting
  • Advanced clinical skills
  • Enthusiasm for interprofessional education and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned doctoral degree in Athletic Training, Education, Kinesiology or other related field.
  • instructor certification for BLS for Healthcare Provider experience.

Compensation Pay Range:

$65,000-$70,000
