As our next Trade & Compliance Specialist, you will assist the Regional Manager, Logistics & Compliance, with recovering documentation from outside 3rd party customs brokers and bonded warehouse providers, to successfully liquidate aged entries.  Further, the Trade & Compliance Specialist will audit customs entries, enter tariff classification information into a 3rd party tariff classification software, and prepare Post Summary Correction documents in anticipation of filing by the customs broker.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Recover entry documentation and proof of exportation from 3rd party customs broker(s) and bonded warehouse(s) to facilitate the customs liquidation of aged customs entries. 

  • With guidance from the Regional Manager, Logistics & Compliance, audit customs entries to confirm whether the correct tariff codes were used, and to confirm whether the correct value and quantity was input on customs declarations.  Make notations in Excel format.

  • Enter tariff classification details into 3rd party software, to allow the Logistics & Compliance Team to determine whether certain products qualify for free trade agreements.

  • Assist with the preparation of Post Summary Corrections or Protests to be filed via US Customs & Border Protection government systems.

  • Other tasks to be defined, related to customs activity.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 1-3 years experience in a customs or logistics setting.

  • Past interactions with either customs brokers or warehouse providers, from an administrative perspective.

  • Knowledge of basic customs terminology and dealings with customs-related tasks in previous roles.

  • Ability to audit documentation through comparison of commercial invoice data against customs data.

  • Some familiarity with concepts of product codes, as product codes will form the basis of the tariff classification data entry project.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience working with Customs Brokers or Logistics & Compliance teams.
• Exposure to PLM or classification software tools.
• Experience in internal audits or continuous improvement of compliance systems.
