Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assess physical, mental, and psychosocial status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge.
- Plans, evaluates and supervises care of all patients assigned.
- Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients.
- Participates in formal and informal educational programs to improve technical skills.
- Responsible for continued learning and application to practice.
- Synthesizes patient care information to formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis.
- Responsible to provide patient and family education.
- Work practice reflects philosophy purpose and policies of the hospital and department.
- Explain procedure to patient (and family, if appropriate).
- Prepare patient for test.
- Performs age-appropriate patient assessment.
- Assists in monitoring EKG and vital signs during procedure and recovery phases.
- Reinforces instructions given by M.D.
- Identifies possible medication reactions and responds appropriately.
- Assures that equipment and supplies are available as needed.
- Assists in booking tests.
- Assists in maintaining files.

Education/Experience Required:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Evidence of continuing education.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing process.
- Six to twelve months CCU/Telemetry experience required.
- America Heart Association ACLS certified.
- Ability to act independently in an emergency situation.
- Certified in defibrillation.
- Able to recognize arrhythmia.
Registration/Certification:
- Current RN Massachusetts License.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
