Reports To: Store Manager and Assistant Manager

Pay: $18 - $20 An Hour 

 

General Description :

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in loading and unloading cargo from trucks and in moving and storing materials or products by performing the following duties.

  • Directs workers to move materials or products to storage areas or job sites.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Job Duties, other duties may be assigned:

  • Assigns job tasks to worker according to loading and unloading schedules. 
  • Schedules sequence of transportation usage, routes of transportation vehicle operators, or movement of materials into and out of storage area.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Observes loading of conveyance to determine conformance to loading patterns and to prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit. 
  • Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against work order or bill of lading.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Directly supervises 2-10 employees in the Yard/Warehouse. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience 

An associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
