About BrandFX

BrandFX, a TIME Manufacturing Company, is the industry leader in advanced composite body manufacturing. We design and produce lightweight, ultra-durable fiberglass service bodies, line bodies, and toppers for utility and telecom fleets across North America. Our Pocahontas facility relies on skilled craftspeople to build the foundational composite layers that make our products resistant to rust, corrosion, and heavy daily wear.

Job Summary

As a Fiberglass Roller / Chopper, you will play a critical role in the initial stages of fiberglass composite manufacturing. Operating pneumatic chopper spray guns, you will apply resin and chopped fiberglass strands into molds, then use hand rollers to consolidate the laminate, roll out trapped air, and ensure uniform thickness. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. This is a teamwork environment where employees do assist in other work areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Chopping Operations

  • Setup, operate, and maintain pneumatic chopper/spray gun equipment to apply fiberglass resin and cut fiberglass roving into open molds evenly.
  • Monitor resin-to-catalyst mix ratios, gel times, and thickness specifications to ensure structural integrity.
  • Clean, wax, and prepare molds prior to resin/fiberglass application.

Rolling & Laminating

  • Use manual ribbed and paddle hand rollers to thoroughly consolidate sprayed fiberglass materials, eliminate air pockets, and compress layers flush against the mold surface.
  • Inspect wet fiberglass layers for defects, thin spots, or excess resin, making real-time corrections to meet quality standards.
  • Work efficiently alongside mold preparation and trim crews to maintain continuous production flow.

Equipment & Shop Maintenance

  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on spray guns, feed rollers, hoses, and nozzles to prevent clog buildup.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work station adhering to 5S shop standards.
  • Follow proper storage and disposal procedures for hazardous materials, resins, and solvents according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Physical Effort: Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
  • PPE Required: Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including a fitted respirator, eye protection, protective suits, and gloves.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1+ years of experience in fiberglass manufacturing, open-mold laminating, spray lay-up, or open-gun operation preferred (marine, RV, or composite truck body experience is a strong plus).
  • Familiarity with resins, gel coats, catalysts, and fiberglass roving.
  • Ability to be coachable and take feedback

Benefits & Compensation

  • Competitive Pay: $21.50 / hour
  • Comprehensive healthcare package (Medical, Dental, Vision).
  • 401(k) retirement plan options.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
