  • Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's tertiary care and Level II Trauma Center, housing the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.

Responsibilities

This position is accountable for the provision of safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective care for the patient with cancer in the Oncology Clinic. Utilizing the nursing process, care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, legal, and regulatory standards. Provides nursing care to patients receiving oncology therapy and assists the doctor in triaging patients and special procedures. Stays current with medical and radiation oncology standards of care.


Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

  • Must hold or obtain current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Idaho State Board of Nursing.

  • Must be or obtain Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Certification through the ONS within 6 months of hire and maintain recertification as directed by the ONS.

  • Radiation Therapy Certification through the ONS within 1 year of hire encouraged.

  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Must have knowledge of oncology therapy and understand the principles of the use of chemotherapy and or radiation therapy in the treatment of cancer.

  • Must have an understanding of sequela related to treatment to include issues of toxicity and systemic reactions to oncology related treatments.

  • Remain current with center-wide occupational education programs.

  • Must attend and participate in departmental and Center-wide meetings and committees as they relate to Oncology.
