Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for daily activities and other duties assigned on EG engineering matters during design, construction, pre-commissioning and startup activities for improvement projects. Executing the piping engineering activities for improvement projects. The deliverables include piping and equipment arrangement layout, 3D model, piping isometric drawings, stress analysis, etc. Assure the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with FPC specifications, design code requirements, industry standards, company policy, and OSHA requirements of the engineering deliverables. Work with all groups in the organization for project cost, schedule, and quality control. Provide engineering support to construction activities.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Project Handling: PIC coordinator for improvement and expansion projects. Collect engineering information, including specifications, engineering data, drawings, operation, and maintenance opinions/suggestions. Communicate and follow up on project activities with all other related PICs.
Budget/Schedule Control: Estimate, coordinate, and issue B-2 project budget per project scope of works for review and approval. Perform piping design work and complete the task within the approved project schedule.
Equipment/ Piping Procurement: Issue material/equipment purchasing requisition per DDE provides specifications. Vendor drawings review/comment and approval. Evaluation & clarification of vendor's quote and submission evaluation summary for approval.
Problem Solving: Recognize errors in work and activities. Resolve critical issues, minimizing design errors that result in construction delays. Bring forth any issues concerning potential field interference, primarily due to a lack of information on existing piping, equipment, and structure.
Skills: Ability to estimate, schedule, and forecast B2 project materials to meet goals. Ability to apply engineering knowledge to piping design.
Bid Package Development: Provide ISOs and 3D models for Project PIC to prepare bid packages and provide assistance during B/Q/E/N.
Leadership and Staff Development: Coach and lead individual team members for continued development.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- BS Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering required; A degree related to Piping Design is preferred.
- Previous Related Experience Required
- No prior experience is required but 1 ~ 2 years of experience in piping improvement and/or project execution/management of petrochemical industries is preferred.
- Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
- Familiar with engineering standards, such as ASME, ANSI, API, FPC Project, and piping design-related documents
- Computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Familiar with general piping, engineering standards and industrial requirements.
- Knowledge of corporate "workflow" system, department responsibilities, and maintenance procedures preferred.
- Familiar with piping design utilizing 2D or 3D software’s.
