Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE 
The Process Engineer position exists to provide specialized process and mechanical/chemical engineering support for the daily operations of the plant. The Process Engineer applies engineering expertise to achieve the plant's goals for production, quality, training, yearly/monthly budgets, cost reporting, safety, environmental compliance, plant start-up, plant shutdown, normal operations, and improvement project/expansion management. This position analyzes operational issues, develops engineering solutions, and provides technical recommendations to improve plant performance, reliability, and operational efficiency while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets all environmental, health, safety, and company requirements.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Process Improvement: Utilizes recognized statistical process techniques and other measurement tools to develop, maintain, and present reports detailing the effectiveness of existing processes, support the implementation of process improvements, and provide engineering recommendations to improve process performance and reliability.
Lead and Facilitate the Fulfillment of Product Delivery and Commitment: Meeting the needs of each sales channel and customer. Anticipate needs, work as a problem solver to eliminate blockages, and enhance consistent delivery of quality products exceeding customer expectations. The role requires managing, solving, and/or recommending a resolution to discrepancies, deviations, abnormalities, customer complaints, quality, and no-quality-related issues.
Project Management: Coordinate and implement areas of improvement that will help the unit achieve Best Industry Practices and correct problem areas. Monitor and support projects utilizing projects routinely utilizing best practices, benchmarking, planning, root cause analysis, and any other BACT.
PSM: Provide technical expertise for Process Safety Management elements, including MOCs, PSI updates, and P&ID modifications. Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices. Provide management and leadership with timely and thorough reports of all incidents to ensure all incidents are investigated properly. Take personal responsibility and ownership for safety, including bringing the attitude that “I am individually responsible for safety” to the job each and every day.
Initiate Action as the Critical Liaison: Coordinate with internal departments, cross-functional teams, and key stakeholders to analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency and support informed decision-making.
Manage, Analyze, Integrate, and Administer Solutions to Improve Efficiency: Gather, compile, analyze, and report information while developing recommendations that support sales, marketing, production planning, credit, quality, logistics, and customer service. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures to streamline day-to-day processes, workflows, and related practices.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.

III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
No prior experience is necessary, but 0~3 years of experience in a petrochemical environment is preferred

2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
• Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Energy & material balance, Unit operations, heat/mass transfer, fluid statics and Dynamic, kinetics, engineering economies.
• Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn.
• General Mathematic and Writing skills
• Willingness to take over areas of responsibilities.
• Computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

3. Education
B.S. Degree in (specific engineering field such as Mechanical, Process, Chemical) engineering required; other engineering disciplines from ABET-accredited universities may be considered. PHD in Polymer Science is a plus

4. Other Certification/Training Required
• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
