Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Â
- Provides instructions and training/supervision for the occupational
    therapy assistants, occupational therapy aides, and occupational
    therapy students.Â
   Â
- Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommended change to
    physician, if needed.
   Â
- Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to
    the therapy requested and provided reassessment, as per policy.Â
    This includes pediatric, adolescents and geriatric patients and the
    general patient populations.
   Â
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and
    evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching
    as appropriate.
   Â
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy
    interventions.
   Â
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
    Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family.
   Â
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains
    department cleanliness and safety.
   Â
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves
    patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
   Â
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and
    administrative team.
   Â
- Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs
    are met and hospital policy is followed.
   Â
- Maintains records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the
    department.
   Â
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under
    stressful situations.
   Â
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and
    with other departments.
   Â
- Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in
    patient care and performance improvement activities.
Â
- Participates and maintains performance improvement activities for
    the department and organizational CQI activities.
   Â
- Meets current documentation standards and policies.
   Â
- Participates in educational staff performance improvement
    inservices. Assists with orientation and in-service training for
    certified department staff members. Participates in guidance and
    educational programs.
Â
- Coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to
    supportive staff (OTA, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Occupational
    Therapy Aides, etc).
Â
- Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating
    Department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriateÂ
    action to remain within budget guidelines.
Â
- Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely
    basis.
Â
- Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training
    and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
Â
- Adheres to dress codes; appearance is neat and clean.
Â
- Completes annual educational requirements.
Â
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
Â
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including JACHO, state and
    federal regulations and standards.
Â
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Completes work within
    designated time.
Â
- Wears identification while on duty.
Â
- Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion.
Â
- Attends committee, CQI and management meetings as appropriate.
Â
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Â
- Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and
    Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.

- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.

- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on

QUALIFICATIONS:
Â
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
Â
Â
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
Â
Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Graduate from an approved school of Occupational Therapy. Hold current
state certification as Occupational Therapist. Current BCLS (CPR)
certification.
Â

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Â
Previous experience preferred.
Â
Â
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Â
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional
languages preferred. Strong written and verbal skills. Basic computer
knowledge. Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively
during crisis situations (ie. Code Blue). Knowledge occupational medicine, occupational therapy interventions, anatomy and physiology, Knowledge of physical and occupational therapy machine operation.
