Rivers Health is seeking a PRN RN for the Infusion Center to provide the essential functions:

- Performs initial assessment of patient.
   Â
- Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the
    assessment. Considers emotional and spiritual as well as physical
    health.
Â
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of
    patient care.
Â
- Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of
    personnel while retaining accountability for duties delegated.
Â
- Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients
    and provides care accordingly.
Â
- Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties.
   Â
- Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are
    accomplished.
Â
- Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is
    available. Ensures any malfunctioning equipment is labeled
    appropriately and sent to Biomed.
Â
- Performs on-going nursing assessments. Utilizes assessment data to
    plan, revise and update patient plan of care.
Â
- Participates in on-going evaluation of employees.
Â
- Keeps Unit Coordinator/Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisors and/or
    Risk Manager apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost
    effective care, and risk management issues.
Â
- Completes all annual competencies.
Â
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Â
- Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and
    Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
Â
- Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to
    hospital policies, procedures and philosophy.
Â
- Accurate documentation of care.
Â
- Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration
    with other disciplines.
Â
- Assists with orientation of new employees.
   Â
- Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available.
Â
- Assumes responsibility for safe-guarding medications and narcotics.
    Safely administers medications with appropriate monitoring.
Â
- Must be able to cross-train to other units.
Â
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
Â
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Participates in
    unit meetings.
Â
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on
    quality improvement teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
Â
Graduate of a school of nursing with current WV license. BCLS
required.
Â
Â
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Â
One (1) year nursing experience preferred in area assigned.
Â
Â
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Â
Must demonstrate the ability to effectively recognize the unique needs of
patients of all ages including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents and
geriatrics. Must be able to cope with highly stressful situations and set priorities for multiple tasks. Must possess knowledge of nursing services policies and procedure manuals. If on call, must be able to report to duty within 20 minutes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Â
Visual, auditory, and olfactory senses necessary to detect changes in
patients' conditions. Finger and hand dexterity important in handling and manipulation of instruments and equipment. Must walk to and from various areas in the nursing units and different hospital departments. Must be able to perform tasks, while using proper body mechanics with the ability to lift, move and transfer patients. Must be able to think quickly and perform multiple tasks at the same time. Must be able to work in stressful situations. Must possess critical thinking skills.

Category I. Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Â
Potential for exposure to infectious patients. Potential for exposure to
hazardous and toxic substances (including chemotherapy, cytotoxic drugs,
and cleaning solutions). These substances have the potential of causing
teratogenic, carcinogenic, reproductive issues. Potential for sticks or
cuts by clean needles or other sharp items. Potential for musculo-skeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.
