Position Summary
The CDL Driver is responsible for delivering and unloading materials in accordance with customer requirements and company operating procedures.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager.
Experience, Education, and General Requirements
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL license and ability to meet Fleet Safety Program requirements
- Physical stamina and ability to perform labor-intensive work for extended hours, including up to 25 hours of overtime per week, as needed
- Strong communication skills
- High level of integrity, organization, and personal accountability
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in an indoor warehouse/fabrication production environment
Preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of CDL driving experience
Physical and Mental Demands
- Constant sitting (67–100%) while operating a truck
- Occasional (0–33%) lifting, bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, grasping, standing, and twisting
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in environments with smoke, fumes, and loud noise
- Requires:
- Continuous mental alertness
- Corrected vision, including the ability to differentiate colors
- Hearing within normal range
- Clear communication ability
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Must be able to properly wear and utilize required safety equipment
Special Equipment
- Ability to operate:
- Company vehicles
- Moffett forklifts
- Standard forklifts
- Bridge cranes
Note: Vehicles, forklifts, and cranes may only be operated by authorized personnel.
Position Duties (Basic)
- Safely and efficiently transport materials to designated locations
- Inspect loads for safety, proper distribution, and secure strapping prior to departure
- Conduct pre-trip inspections including tires, brakes, lights, and overall vehicle functionality
- Assist with loading trucks and perform general yard duties when not driving
- Assist with unloading and verify material counts to prevent shortages
- Document and report any material shortages to the Supervisor immediately
- Perform all other duties as assigned
