Wood Veneer Guillotine Machine Operator

Full Time | On-Site – Pompano Beach, FL

Reports To: Veneer Department Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a Wood Veneer Guillotine Machine Operator to join our production team. This is a hands-on, full-time position for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, comfortable working with measurements and numbers, and able to perform physical work throughout the day.

The Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating an industrial guillotine-style cutting machine used to cut and process wood and panel-related materials according to production specifications.

Experience in woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, plywood, veneer, laminates, or a similar manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. We are also open to candidates with machine-operating experience in other industries who demonstrate strong mechanical ability, critical thinking, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

This position requires someone who understands that accuracy matters. A small mistake in measurement, machine setup, or material selection can result in wasted material and production delays. The right person is dependable, safety-conscious, a team player, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

  • Set up and safely operate an industrial guillotine cutting machine.
  • Read and follow production work orders and cutting instructions.
  • Measure materials accurately before and after cutting.
  • Enter or adjust machine settings according to required dimensions.
  • Perform accurate and consistent cuts according to production specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and quality before moving material to the next production step.
  • Identify potential problems before cutting material and use good judgment to prevent mistakes or unnecessary waste.
  • Monitor the machine during operation and communicate mechanical or performance issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Quality & Accuracy

  • Double-check material, measurements, quantities, and specifications before beginning a job.
  • Inspect finished pieces to ensure cuts meet required dimensions and quality standards.
  • Identify defects, incorrect materials, or inconsistencies before processing.
  • Minimize material waste through careful planning and accurate machine operation.
  • Take ownership of the quality and accuracy of completed work.

Team & Production Support

  • Work closely with other production and warehouse team members to keep jobs moving efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly when instructions, measurements, or material specifications are unclear.
  • Help move, position, stack, and organize materials before and after cutting.
  • Support other production activities when needed.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Requirements

This is a physical, hands-on production position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand and work on their feet for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Push, pull, position, and handle large wood panels and other production materials.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks safely and consistently.
  • Work around industrial machinery in a production environment.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous machine operator or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, plywood, veneer, laminate, or panel-processing experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Good math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, and measurements.
  • Comfortable using a tape measure and working with inches and fractions.
  • Ability to read and understand production orders, measurements, and cutting specifications.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable learning industrial equipment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety procedures.
  • Able to work independently once trained while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • Willing to learn and take ownership of the quality of completed work.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position is primarily measured by safety, accuracy, quality, productivity, and material utilization.

  • Cuts consistently match production specifications and measurements.
  • Materials and measurements are verified before cutting.
  • Production mistakes and material waste are kept to a minimum.
  • Finished materials meet quality standards before moving to the next production step.
  • The machine and surrounding work area are kept clean, organized, and safe.
  • Production problems or unclear instructions are identified and communicated before they result in errors.
  • The operator works efficiently while never sacrificing safety or accuracy.
  • The operator is dependable and works well with the rest of the production team.

Who Will Thrive Here

You will thrive in this role if you like working with machines, measurements, and physical materials and take satisfaction in producing accurate work.

You naturally double-check your work before making a cut. You are comfortable working with numbers and measurements and understand that in manufacturing, small details can make a big difference.

You are also someone who can think through a problem instead of simply pushing a button. If something does not look right, you stop, verify the information, and ask questions before proceeding.

Most importantly, you are dependable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and want to become a skilled and trusted member of our production team.
