We your expertise to be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of machines, tools, equipment, and utility systems.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, motors, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, production equipment, and other mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions by observing equipment operation, identifying root causes, and using precision measuring and diagnostic tools.
  • Repair or replace defective components by safely dismantling equipment using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
  • Maintain the facility, including building systems, material handling equipment (MHE), refrigeration systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems to ensure safe operation and compliance with operational standards.
  • Review preventive maintenance schedules, reports, and equipment performance data to identify maintenance needs and improve equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance leadership and Operations to resolve equipment issues and minimize production or warehouse downtime.
  • Follow equipment manuals, engineering specifications, diagrams, and manufacturer instructions when performing maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse, production, office, and corporate teams to support daily operations and maintenance priorities.
  • Assist warehouse management and operations with facility-related projects and other assigned duties as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.


 

Job Qualifications - Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance priorities.


Education and Experience:

  • Experience maintaining material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, conveyors, or similar equipment.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification.
  • RETA certification or Industrial Refrigeration Operator training.
  • Experience working with industrial refrigeration systems.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in temperature-controlled environments ranging from -20°F (-29°C) in freezer facilities to 100°F (38°C) in dry storage areas while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) and freezer gear.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.


*Vertical Cold Storage will pay for the enrollment into the Refrigeration Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) program and cost of testing.   Study and testing will be completed on own time.  Failure to pass or complete the course in the defined timeline will result in termination from the position and require the employee to reimburse the company for the cost of the course(s) not completed.
