Job PurposeÂ
The Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing quality crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting to the Behavioral Health Crisis Center in a timely and responsible manner.Â
QualificationsÂ
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related FieldÂ
- Must have all necessary course work and meet all the requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at a minimum be eligible to begin supervision ORÂ
- Must meet the Department of Mental Health’s Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional
Core Job DutiesÂ
- Conduct Crisis Assessments to determine appropriate level of care.Â
- Provide Crisis Interventions.Â
- Maintains working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures.Â
- Discharge/transition/aftercare plans completed accurately and in a timely manner.Â
- Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plan with clients.Â
- Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.Â
- Maintain client records, following agency and state regulations.Â
- Interface with other community partners such as law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, etc.Â
- Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.Â
- Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.Â
- Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.Â
- Other job duties and special projects as assigned. Â
