Job Description

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) is looking for an Operations Supervisor to help lead daily operations at our Port Allen facility. This role focuses on coordinating contract labor crews, supporting plant operations, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring effective communication between operations, maintenance, and safety teams.

What You'll Do

  • Schedule and coordinate outside labor crews for daily operations
  • Work with contractors to ensure labor needs are met
  • Support rail, barge, and truck unloading activities
  • Coordinate daily priorities with the Control Room and Maintenance teams
  • Identify housekeeping needs and assign resources to maintain facility standards
  • Supervise barge unloading and vessel loading activities
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices
  • Lead toolbox talks, assist with safety training, audits, and permit requirements
  • Help plan and coordinate maintenance outages and repair work
  • Serve as a key point of communication between operations, maintenance, safety, and contractors
  • Train and mentor employees and new supervisors as needed

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Identify minimum levels required.)

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

2 or 4 year college degree preferred

Valid TWIC card preferred.

 

Experience

Five years of experience in grain industry increasing responsibility in the areas of mechanical and electrical maintenance, grain handling, and supervision

Prior supervisory experience

Prior grain elevator management experience

Prior exposure to ILWU work force preferred

 

Knowledge/Skills/Licenses

Two plus years in operations supervision

Superior knowledge of OSHA, Food Safety, Grain Standards, and Environmental regulations

Demonstrated ability to manage change within the work force

Demonstrated skills of team building and conflict resolution

Effective communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills

Broad knowledge of industrial machinery, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement equipment

Strong working knowledge of computer operations

Thorough understanding of plant operations

Understanding of electrical systems helpful

Working Conditions

Requires supervisor to be available 24 hours per day

Exposed to variations in temperature and weather

Requires climbing ladders and catwalks

Requires occasional lifting of objects weighing at least 50 pounds

Requires wearing safety equipment at times, including safety belts/harnesses and ear, eye, and respiration protection.

Supervises outside operations personnel, Laborers

 

Decision Making

Assists in establishing and maintaining facility budget

Sets labor requirements on daily basis

Can shut down plant machinery, systems, and operation
