The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Outside Mechanic near the Gulf Coast. They will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment aboard Fuel, Derrick, Anchor, and Drag barges to support safe and efficient operations. Duties include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating repairs with service vendors, and maintaining compliance with USCG requirements and company safety standards. This position reports directly to the Attendant Plant Maintenance Superintendent & Manager and may require travel to multiple project sites as directed.

 Experience Required:

  • Experience operating and maintaining mechanical equipment aboard Fuel, Derrick, Anchor, and Drag barges

  • Experience performing preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on onboard machinery and vessel systems

  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment issues

  • Experience servicing, inspecting, and troubleshooting engines, transmissions, and torque converters

  • Experience working with service vendors during repair activities

  • Knowledge of USCG and ABS regulatory compliance requirements

  • Must be able to travel to multiple project sites as directed

Other Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid Tankerman endorsement

  • Must be able to maintain accurate transfer and oil record books in accordance with USCG requirements

  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, and committed to safety and accountability

  • Must be able to communicate equipment issues requiring outside contractor support to supervision

  • Strong commitment to high-quality maintenance standards
