Position Overview:

The Consumer Loan Sales Representative is responsible for delivering exceptional member service while generating consumer loan volume and deepening member relationships through consultative sales. This role serves as a primary point of contact for new and existing members seeking lending solutions, guiding applicants through the loan process from application to closing, identifying cross-sell opportunities, and promoting credit union products and services that align with member needs. The position requires strong knowledge of consumer lending practices, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to regulatory compliance, accuracy, and timely follow-up. Success in this role is measured by service quality, loan growth, operational accuracy, and the ability to support the credit union’s mission of providing trusted financial solutions to members.

Essential Job Functions

  • Open new member accounts, load loans, and disburse loans
  • Proactively engage new and existing credit union members by phone or other electronic means
  • Answers incoming member and/or non-member calls in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner, providing excellent member services to current and potential members
  • Perform calls and loan requests in a way to develop a lending relationship with each member
  • Meet or exceed established sales and service goals as defined by management. Must actively look for opportunities to increase loan volume as well as new accounts.
  • Effectively cross-sell ancillary insurance products including but not limited to Life, GAP, Disability, and MBP.
  • Review all loan officer work lists daily to actively target pending loan applications so that applications are funded within 24 hours or less.
  • Serves as an information resource to members and non-members and possesses a thorough knowledge of products, services, policies and procedures, to handle all inquiries effectively.
  • Search for further loan and cross sales opportunities with every encounter
  • Obtain consumer loan credit reports and actively look for and offer members opportunities to save money.
  • Maintain and follow up pending loan applications to ensure completeness and timelines of processing and funding of loans. Ensure quick turnaround of loan applications. 
  • Strive to meet monthly/yearly sales and credit union goals. 
  • Work with loan operation areas to ensure all necessary documentation is executed and received
  • Release information concerning rates and credit check
  • Records and reports must be accurate, complete and timely
  • Comply with credit union policies and procedures. 
  • Observe an ethical and “non-hostile” work environment

Working conditions/Physical demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to receive information and hear sounds at normal speaking levels under normal conditions in an office setting. 
  • Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. 
  • Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment 
  • Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. 
  • From time to time, the Board of Directors may, in their discretion, set forth the educational and experience for the position.
  • Ability to travel to other locations to provide coverage if needed.
