Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a skilled Material Handler II to support plant operations by overseeing the movement, sorting, and loading of donated materials while providing guidance to Material Handler I team members. This role plays a key role in maintaining efficient workflow throughout the facility, ensuring materials are handled safely and accurately according to Kaizen standards. The ideal candidate brings warehouse experience, confidence in directing others, and the ability to support multiple operational areas to help advance Goodwill's mission in the community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Move, load, and unload raw donated materials, salvage commodities, trash, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring all items are placed in their designated plant locations.
  • Follow Kaizen guidelines and 5‑minute drills to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all material‑handling processes.
  • Lead assigned operational areas by providing direction, task assignments, and support to Material Handler I employees.
  • Assist in salvage sorting operations and cross‑train to support additional plant roles as needed.
  • Deliver professional and courteous service to stores, administrative teams, vendors, and donors while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience in warehouse operations.
  • One to two years of experience loading 53', 48' containers and box trucks.
  • One year supervisory experience.
  • Previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word).
  • Capable of seeing and recognizing colors.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull and move items; lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable with standing for long periods of time and the possibility of occasionally working where temperatures and climate can fluctuate.
