What we need:
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of Park & Watercraft Manager 1 within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Middle Bass Island State Park in Ottawa County. Transportation costs to and from the island will not be supplemented or provided by ODNR. Travel time to the island will not be counted as working hours.
This position will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
What you will do…
- Oversees all park operations at Middle Bass Island State Park & North Bass Island State Park
- Implements, prioritizes expenditures & tracking of the fiscal operating budget
- Supervises & provides training opportunities to personnel
- Assists in ODNR’s mission to provide exceptional outdoor recreation and boating opportunities by balancing customer service, education, protection and conservation of Ohio's state parks and waterways
- Works with local communities, schools, and other organizations to develop partnerships and promote park programs, events, and projects.Â
- Works closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, Concessionaire, & Local Governments.
- Starting hourly pay of $32.35/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $46.09/hr.
- There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. For more details, refer to the Exempt pay range schedule & longevity rates Exempt Employees E1 | Department of Administrative Services.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT: Positions operating watercraft must complete boat operator education course per Ohio Revised Code 1547.05.Â
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be called 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; may work evenings, weekends &/or holidays; may be exposed to chemical spray, dirt, dust fumes & noise, unpleasant odors, human & animal waste; may be exposed to dangerous machinery; may work in or near water; works outside to include walking long & short distances, climbing & navigating rough terrain, steep slopes & embankments & exposure to outdoor elements (e.g., inclement weather, animals, insects, poison ivy); may be exposed to unsafe conditions.
24 mos. trg. or exp. in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’s license.Â
-Or completion of associate core program in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 6 mos. exp. in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’s license.Â
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’s license.Â
-Or 12 mos. exp. as Assistant Park & Watercraft Manager, 22515; valid driver’s license.Â
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.Â
