Position Summary:聽 Under the direct supervision, provides assistance to the emergency department nursing and medical staff with patient care and clerical duties.聽 Performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for patients in the emergency department.聽

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1.聽聽聽聽聽 Provides direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with patient care procedures.
2.聽聽聽聽聽 Inventories and restocks emergency department equipment.
3.聽聽聽聽聽 Collects and transports specimens such as urine, blood, and cultures.
4.聽聽聽聽聽 Assists with the admission and discharge of patients, initiates and discontinues intravenous lines, cleans and prepares examination room between patients.
5.聽聽聽聽聽 Places patients on monitors, provides wound care, assists with orthopedic procedures and other emergency room procedures as requested.
6.聽聽聽聽聽 Reports and records observations in the patient medical record.
7.聽聽聽聽聽 Reports patient care needs and changes in condition to the nursing staff.
8.聽聽聽聽聽 Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school diploma or equivalent.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting OR completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Certification as an emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, medical assistant (MA), or certified nursing assistant (CNA).
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 BLS certification.
Preferred:聽
路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ACLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to understand, react effectively and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of various patient age groups served:聽 infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric.

2.聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedures manuals.聽
3.聽聽聽聽聽 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.聽
4.聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
5.聽聽聽聽聽 Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels in a courteous, tactful and poised manner.
