Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Dredging Operations Manager to lead and oversee maintenance dredging operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing coastal dredging activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution while maintaining compliance with environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, supervise, and manage daily maintenance dredging operations.
  • Coordinate dredging schedules, vessel deployment, and equipment utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, environmental, and maritime regulations.
  • Monitor dredging production, performance, and project progress.
  • Manage maintenance of dredgers, support vessels, and associated equipment.
  • Lead and mentor operations personnel, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Optimize operational efficiency while minimizing downtime and costs.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness and incident response procedures are implemented.
  • Upholds the Company’s commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices 
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures 
  • Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE 
  • Ensures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies         
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and escalates issues in job progress and equipment status 
  • Attends weekly Project Management meetings to collaborate on and communicate job progress
  • Schedules project work activities according to plan timelines to ensure timely project completion
  • Calculates time requirements and project sequence elements 
  • Ensures that contracted services are meeting schedules, within budget, and comply with contract specifications
  • Prepares and maintains a project progress file which includes schedule information and work activities
  • Reviews bills for services and determines that those services have been performed as required prior to submitting for payment authorization

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in dredging operations, including 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance dredging techniques, dredging equipment, and marine operations.
  • Experience managing cutter suction dredgers, trailing suction hopper dredgers, or backhoe dredgers is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HSE standards, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting software.
  • Ability to provide effective staff management and leadership
  • Exceptional client and contractor relationship management skills
  • Ability to provide effective staff management and leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; public speaking and presenting
  • Motivated, organized, and able to work well independently and with others
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to use good judgment and make independent decisions
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description 
  • Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing 
  • Clean driving record, MVR
