POSITION PURPOSE
Maximize the Credit Union’s community involvement while developing relationships and networking to enhance potential growth. Serve as the Credit Union outside sales representative by actively identifying, cultivating, soliciting, developing, and servicing comprehensive business development programs. Participates on committees as assigned and provides support to marketing and Credit Union personnel as necessary. Maintains a positive professional image and reputation of the Credit Union in the community. Completes administrative duties for marketing, public relations and business development. Ensures that community activities support short and long-term objectives and assist marketing with planning and execution of Credit Union goals. Responsible for enhancing the image of the Credit Union in both business and local communities.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position requires excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well independently are also vital to the successful execution of this position. Position requires offsite travel in personal vehicle and the ability to attend offsite functions promoting the Credit Union.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Assumes responsibility for effectively completing public relations activities.
a. Responsible for the development of a regular planned program for scheduled site visits, tracking of site visits, and reporting on site visits of present and potential business development and community involvement.
b. Assist with writing and distributing press releases.
c. Search for areas of opportunity to grow and enhance the Credit Union community involvement that will align with the Credit Union brand and culture.
d. Develop an organized way of measuring community involvement success.
e. Creates articles, advertisements, and announcements for meetings and special events.
f. Ensures that public relations activities are effective and support marketing objectives.
g. Manage, support and grow the Credit Union financial literacy programs.
- Plans and coordinates community events.
- Directs activities for grand openings. Invites media, prepares information sheets, orders signs and flowers, makes arrangements for photography and refreshments, and identifies giveaways and door prizes.
2. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations exist with members, vendors, trade professionals, and the general public.
a. Builds and maintains professional relationships with business editors, media contacts, and trade professionals. Represents the Credit Union at conventions and business fairs, and actively sells products and services.
- Directs Credit Union sponsorships to ensure that they support marketing goals. Answers related correspondence, represents the Credit Union at sponsor functions.
c. Oversees the community assistance programs. Selects organizations, arranges support programs, and completes related marketing activities. Manages and distributes funds collected from members, volunteers and employees.
d. Resolves requests, questions, and problems courteously and professionally. Ensures that communications are efficient and effective.
e. Ensures that business development and marketing activities create positive member, prospective member, and community responses.
f. Ensures that members are properly informed of Credit Union events.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
a. Attends and supports Marketing meetings and activities.
b. Assists, serves and informs branches and related departments as required. Answers questions and resolves problems.
c. Supports and assists Marketing personnel.
d. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Completes special projects as assigned.
b. Stays current with financial marketing and public relations trends.
- Keeps work areas clean, secure, and well-maintained.
- Performs the duties of Marketing Support as required.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
1. Business development and marketing activities are effectively and efficiently completed and support Credit Union goals and objectives.
2. Business development and marketing events are communicated to branch personnel.
3. Business development and marketing events are well-advertised, planned, and organized.
4. Positive community and media relations exist. Community assistance programs and sponsorships are administered effectively.
5. Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
6. Activities are completed within budget requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent. Additional marketing and public relations training preferred.
Required Knowledge : Basic knowledge of Credit Union operations.
Understanding of public relations, business development and media processes.
EXPERIENCE: Three years of marketing and/or sales experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Well organized.
Attentive to detail.
Strong project management abilities.
Able to use related computer applications.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.)
WORKING CONDITIONS

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.
Able to interpret various instructions.
Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money; to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound (or their metric counterparts).
Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias.
Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar.
Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.
