Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Care at Home

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant treats and/or trains pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with physical or psychological dysfunction under the supervision of the registered Occupational Therapist (OTR).- Associates Degree in Occupational therapy from accredited program, approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Clinical rotation included in the COTA degree.
- Possesses knowledge and skills to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a hospital setting.
- Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians and ancillary department personnel.
- Customer-service oriented; able to effectively communicate verbally and written to build relationships with peers and key stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
- Contributes to the evaluation process by gathering data, administering structured tests and reporting observations while under supervision of OTR.
- Contributes to the development of the treatment plan and carries out implementation of the treatment plan.
- Tracks the need for patient reassessment, reports changes in patient status and contributes to the reassessment process.
- Counsels and instructs patients and patient's family in home program in collaboration with OTR.
- Designs, corrects, or adjusts orthotics or assistive devices in collaboration with OTR.
- Records patient's progress in charts. Gives oral reports as needed to related personnel.
- Assists in planning, organizing and coordinating in-service education.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, orders and stocks. Processes patient charges, files, and performs other tasks.
