POSITION SUMMARY

The Operating Room Surgical Technician assists with surgical instruments in the OR based on procedure performed, standards, guidelines, and policies set for the unit. He/she functions under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and surgeon. Surgical Technician assists with the nursing care of the patients in the OR by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of practice and policy and procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. Other duties include stocking, replenishing, preparing, and/or selecting supplies and equipment for storage or use during surgical procedures. Assists with housekeeping functions to maintain cleanliness in the OR. Activities are directed toward achieving desired patient outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to interpret information to identify the patient's age specific needs and provides appropriate care for the age group in question. Employee may flex or float depending on business needs or directives of Supervisor. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education:

HS diploma, Graduate of approved surgical tech school, unless LPN with a minimum of 2 years surgical experience

Experience:

Prefer experience in OR or SPD but not required

License:

LPN if not a Graduate of approved Surgical Tech School

Certifications:

American Heart Association BLS.
