Summary
Ship8 is a third-party logistics (3PL) provider operating a fast-paced warehouse and distribution facility in Savannah, Georgia. The Senior IT Technician provides advanced technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, hardware, and warehouse technology. This role independently diagnoses and resolves complex technical problems, serves as an escalation point for issues beyond the scope of IT Technicians, and provides day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff. This is an individual contributor role and does not currently carry formal supervisory or people-management responsibility at this time. Ability to grow with the role highly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues beyond the scope of IT Technicians
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to IT Technicians (informal, non-supervisory)
- Support computers, laptops, tablets, smart phones and applications across the warehouse
- Respond to queries either in person, over the phone, or via email
- Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Wireless Networks, and other systems
- Install, configure, and maintain computer peripherals, RF/handheld barcode scanners, and label printers
- Maintain user accounts, including rights, permissions, and systems groups
- Support and troubleshoot warehouse management system (WMS) hardware and connectivity critical to shipping operations
- Purchase and deploy hardware and software
- Lead special projects, system upgrades, and technology rollouts
- Analyze company technology needs and recommend solutions
- Provide diagnostic reports and maintain ongoing operations of all systems
- Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure resolution in a timely manner
- Conduct wireless site surveys to locate and resolve performance and connectivity issues with wireless networks
- Run and terminate CAT6 cable; fiber experience preferred
- Handle multiple activities simultaneously and develop effective working relationships with diverse work groups
- Identify trends in issue reporting and devise preventative solutions
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 5-7+ years of related functional experience as an IT Technician, help desk technician, or other technical support role
- Advanced understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other technology products
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Working knowledge of MS Active Directory, G Suite, FTP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Adobe CC, and others
- Networking knowledge including DHCP, DNS, VLAN's, firewalls, NAT, and Wireless technology; ability to configure Cisco/Dell L2/L3 switches a plus
- Experience conducting wireless surveys to locate and resolve performance and connectivity issues with wireless networks
- Ability to run and terminate CAT6 cable; fiber preferred
- Prior experience in a warehouse, distribution, or 3PL environment preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
