Research Scientist
Job Summary: This role serves as the Principal Investigator Research Scientist responsible for study design, execution, and data interpretation for client-sponsored and internal research studies. The position also provides leadership and operational oversight of the animal research program to ensure compliance with USDA regulations, institutional policies, and industry standards for humane animal care and research.

Essential Functions:
- Scientific Leadership and Study Direction
- Serve as Principal Investigator / Study Director for in vivo preclinical research studies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop study objectives, experimental design, and research strategies.
- Provide scientific leadership throughout study execution, data interpretation, and reporting.
- Evaluate new research opportunities and contribute to development of new research capabilities.
- Animal Program Oversight
- Provide scientific and operational oversight of the animal research program.
- Ensure compliance with applicable USDA regulations, animal welfare standards, and institutional policies.
- Support and participate in activities related to IACUC protocols, animal welfare oversight, and regulatory inspections.
- Work collaboratively with veterinary staff and animal care personnel to maintain high standards of animal care and research conduct.
- Study Execution
- Oversee in-life study activities including:
- Animal dosing and treatments
- Biological sample collection, tissue harvesting and processing, and imaging or specialized procedures as required
- Ensure studies are conducted according to approved protocols and study timelines.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze and interpret research data.
- Prepare or review study summaries, reports, and scientific communications.
- Communicate study progress and results with internal teams and clients.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure research activities comply with company SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and study protocols.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and animal use protocols.
- Maintain accurate research documentation and study records.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff.
- Support training on procedures, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure efficient study execution.

- Attention to detail regarding safety and accuracy of procedures performed. Light lifting of up to 20lbs. may be required.

Education and Experience:
- Position requires a minimum of a MS in a related field, PhD preferred.
- Pharm/Biotech or CRO experience in a nonclinical setting may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
