Job DetailsJob Location: EAGLE MOUNTAIN CASINO - PORTERVILLE, CA 93257Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $25.13 - $25.13 HourlyJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Casino SUMMARY The Security Sergeant supervises and manages the Security Officers, assists the Tule River Tribe Gaming Commission and its personnel in enforcing Tribal Gaming Regulations, laws, and procedures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the Security Officers activities on each shift. Patrols buildings of Eagle Mountain Casino to prevent and discover crimes, investigate crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints.  Oversees the scheduling of assigned Team Members, monitors days off, and area assignments to insure complete coverage of all assigned patrol areas. Brief all Security Team Members on a daily basis of all incidents and memos from each shift. Ensures the safety and wellbeing for all Team Members and guests. Attend ongoing training to improve skills that are work related and beneficial to the Security Department. Assign tasks as needed to subordinates and ensure proper supervision has been provided for task. Organize and coordinate search and rescue efforts. Locates, searches, detains, and arrests law violators, following procedures. Investigates illegal or suspicious activities, persons, and establishments, and quells disturbances. Interview and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects. Gathers and preserves evidence. Performs first aid and provides other assistance to accident and other victims. Assist outside agencies with control and maintenance of law and order in volatile situations or natural disasters. Directs and controls traffic. Issues written citations for traffic and other minor violations. Operates police communication and computer equipment to obtain, disseminate, and report information. Writes detailed incident, investigation, activity, and other reports. Testifies in court to present evidence by describing conditions, situations, and actions. Cooperates and enforces departmental policies & procedures and all policies & procedures of the Gaming Commission, casino, and local law enforcement agencies, as requested and or approved. Ensure compliance of all departmental policies and procedures. Must attend and be certified in all applicable training programs required. All other departmental duties as assigned. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age requirement is 21. High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years’ of work experience in a security related position. Must possess and maintain a valid California Guard Card. (Tribal Members Only-obtain one within 90-days of hire). Must be able to obtain State of California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services permit for defensive equipment use as authorized by the administration. Must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation, and drug/alcohol screen. Must possess a First Aid and CPR certificate or obtain one within 90-days of hire. Must have strong report writing skills. Must be professional, polite, and respectful towards guests. Must be able to handle extended hours when needed. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect. Knowledge of security or law enforcement preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and etc.). Ability to gather, interpret, and compare technical data. Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar to record and report information. Ability to communicate with persons of various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Ability to work from oral and written instructions. Ability to read and write common vocabulary. Ability to read, understand, record, and apply technical materials. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information. Ability to retain and recall factual information. Ability to identify problems, determine variable solutions, and adopt effective courses of actions. Ability to promote good public relations. Ability to work weekends and Holidays. Excellent verbal and listening skills. Ability to read, write clearly and informatively, comprehends documents pertaining to security policies & procedures, rules & regulations and operating instructions. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the casino’s insurance carrier. Able to obtain and retain a gaming license through the Tule River Tribe Gaming Commission. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL: While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, stand, run, and sit. Repeatedly required to use hand to finger, reach with hands, arms and handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally required to and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform in outdoor environments with frequent exposure to unpredictable weather conditions including heat, rain, cold and wind. This position may require the movements and strength to incapacitate or subdue other persons for the protection of safety of self and others.  This job also may require the use of a vehicle, and a Team Member must be able to have those repetitive motions and coordination associated with operating a motor vehicle. Must be able to work in a noisy and smoke-filled environment. Noise level is moderate to high on the casino floor. Exposed daily to flashing lights and ringing bells. Must be able to perform all essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
