Join our team and assist in ensuring inventory and company expansion!   Automotive Buyer/Inspector Job Description  We are currently seeking an experienced Reconditioned and Salvage Vehicle (Car) Buyer or Body and Frame Inspector to join our Purchasing Team. The position will be responsible for purchasing vehicles at various auctions, rebuilder shops, trade networks and inspector vehicles.   Ask yourself why you go to work? Do you enjoy being in an achievement-oriented position?   Buyer/Inspector Job Duties and Responsibilities  In this role you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following job duties: Inspection Complete a multi-point inspection to identify all other repairs needed, only recommending repairs needed. Diagnose and identify root cause concerns as discussed with the customer. Test drive to verify concerns with the vehicle as necessary Work with Suppliers and AutoSavvy personnel to correctly identify mechanical repairs needed as well as items found on the multi-point inspection to create parts and labor estimates for repair. Test drive and inspect repaired vehicle to ensure that the problem(s) have been completely fixed. Perform a complete post-repair inspection for quality, safety and reliability. Communicate any failed items during quality control inspections. Inspector Management Maintain the shop and service area for cleanliness. Daily Stand-up Scrum Meeting with the Team. Weekly Sprint Review. Monthly personal development reviews with staff. Relationship Management Sources, establishes, and maintains relationships with salvage title, vehicle rebuilders/suppliers, auctions, and various sources for the purpose of purchasing vehicles that meet AutoSavvy requirements. Cold calling. Direct shop visits. Proper documentation of supplier visits. Engaging suppliers in professional relationship. Demonstrate financial benefits. Resolving concerns with suppliers. Purchasing Cars Monitors used automobile market for trends in vehicle values. Maintains ongoing customer relations with Suppliers and Auction Personnel. Meet with Suppliers and attend auctions to buy cars that meet AutoSavvy requirements. Move cars from the designated customer drop off into and out of the staging area safely for transport to our retail dealership locations. Recording/reporting of key information Throughput Specific Vehicles Volume Rates Errors Top Performers Bottom Performers Improvement plans Travel to out of market Rebuilders is required from 50% - 75% of the time. Additional duties as assigned.   To be successful in this role you should have held similar titles  Floor Manager Service Advisor Appraisal Manager Insurance Estimator Frame Inspector Other similar roles   Requirements and Knowledge Needed Prior automotive industry experience required with 3-5 years of previous buying experience either as a buyer or a used car manager. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify proper body repairs. Comfortable with technology-based platforms, V-Auto specifically. An excellent negotiator with the ability to spot opportunities and the good sense to act on them. An excellent communicator with a great ability to build rapport and attract builders and other suppliers. Must be polite, professional, energetic, and presentable, with strong communication, organization, and customer service skills Must be comfortable working independently, skilled at listening, problem solving and communication. Experienced in hunting new business opportunities using current and innovative techniques. Thirst for career development and continuous learning. Valid drivers license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a drug test and a background check.
