The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a full-time Law Enforcement Liaison, Crisis Intervention professional to join our Mobile Crisis Response Program serving the Lake Region. In this unique role, you will work alongside the Bridgton Police Department, co-responding to calls involving individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or behavioral health crises.

As a trusted partner to law enforcement, you'll help de-escalate situations, connect individuals with appropriate supports, and provide critical interventions that promote safety, recovery, and hope.

This position sits at the intersection of behavioral health and public safety. You'll serve as a vital resource to both community members and law enforcement officers by:

• Responding alongside police officers to behavioral health-related calls
• Conducting crisis assessments and developing immediate intervention plans
• Helping individuals access appropriate mental health and substance use services
• Providing consultation and support to officers during crisis situations
• Reducing barriers to care and supporting positive community outcomes
• Promoting a compassionate, recovery-oriented approach to crisis response

We're Looking for Someone Who

• Brings experience in adult mental health services, crisis intervention, psychiatric triage, or client advocacy
• Believes recovery is possible and embraces person-centered, trauma-informed care
• Can remain calm, confident, and effective during high-stress or emergency situations
• Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Is comfortable working across multiple systems, organizations, and professional cultures
• Is proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and web-based applications
• Has a valid driver's license and strong driving record, as travel within the service area may be required

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Criminology, Social Sciences, or a related field
• MHRT-CSP certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
• Ability to successfully pass criminal background, child protective service, and sex offender registry checks
• Must not be listed on state or federal suspension/debarment registries
• Must meet all applicable Crisis Center and law enforcement agency requirements and qualifications
• Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and an acceptable driving record required.
• Ability to travel throughout the Lake Region service area and perform community-based work as an essential function of the position.

What You'll Do

As a Law Enforcement Liaison, you'll play a key role in supporting individuals and strengthening community crisis response efforts by:

• Providing onsite crisis assessments and intervention planning
• Evaluating risk related to harm to self, harm to others, and other behavioral health concerns
• Collaborating with local police departments, mobile crisis teams, healthcare providers, schools, and community partners
• Coordinating emergency psychiatric support and short-term follow-up services
• Delivering crisis services throughout the community in a variety of settings
• Conducting outreach and education on mental health, substance use, and crisis response topics

Schedule

Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week

Work schedule will be determined based on program needs. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.

Location

This position serves the Lake Region and is based primarily out of Bridgton, Maine.

• Work is primarily conducted in person within the community and partner locations
• Some limited remote work opportunities may be available
• Administrative support is provided through our South Portland office
