POSITION SUMMARY The Chamfer Machine Operator operates the B&G stud bevel machine to add a chamfer to round bar and all-thread rod, and trains toward independently setting up and running standard and specialty equipment as skill and experience develop. CHAMFER & FABRICATION OPERATIONS Operate the B&G stud bevel machine to chamfer round bar and all-thread rod; learn related setups Set up and run standard bending machines, including U-bolts and square bends, as proficiency increases Set up drilling and slotting machines as proficiency increases Perform specialty bends, including hot bending and complex bends, with training and experience ADVANCED PROFICIENCY With training and experience, advance to setting up and running bending operations, including the V-Bender KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely to move product and materials Operate and maintain machinery and production line equipment Follow established production guidelines and procedures Perform other duties as assigned SAFETY Follow all safety precautions and production safety guidelines at all times Operate safely around moving mechanical parts and equipment Inspect equipment and product for integrity and safety; report any anomalous conditions promptly Maintain a clean and organized workstation and production floor Wear required PPE at all times in designated production areas, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear WHY PORTLAND BOLT Portland Bolt offers a competitive total compensation package including: Profit sharing quarterly bonus Medical, dental, and vision plans 401(k) with company matching Paid time off Free, onsite parking Onsite gym Company-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Company-paid Life and AD&D insurance Company-paid Employee Assistance Program (EAP) QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED No prior machining experience required — training provided; prior mechanical experience, general mechanical aptitude, or machining experience preferred Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; increasing independence expected as skills develop Understanding of basic units of measurement Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16 inch Must become forklift certified through Portland Bolt within 90 days of hire Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and to work around heat, noise, vibration, and moving equipment Ability to work in occasionally wet or humid (non-weather) conditions
