Job DetailsJob Location: Central Kitchen Oregon - Portland, OR 97214Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $24.50 - $28.85 Hourly Regulatory Compliance Coordinator $24.50 - $28.85 - Full-Time | Hourly (Non-Exempt)  Position Summary/Objective of job: The Regulatory Compliance Coordinator supports the accurate, timely, and controlled execution of product regulatory and technical documentation for Salt & Straw products. Working under the direction of the Director of QA and Food Safety, this role prepares and maintains Nutrition Facts Panels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, packaging reviews, specifications, supplier and ingredient approval records, customer documents, and related regulatory records using approved procedures and source information. This is an early-career technical role designed to build regulatory capability while providing dependable execution of routine work. The Coordinator is expected to recognize inconsistencies, follow established review and escalation criteria, and immediately escalate any potential food safety, legality, or material quality concern to the Director.  Essential Functions:  Prepare, update, and verify product label declarations — including Nutrition Facts Panels, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, and standards-of-identity language — using approved formulas, nutrition software, and supplier documentation; confirm source data and supporting records before approval Review packaging artwork, label copy, and regulatory documents using approved checklists and procedures; escalate novel claims, exceptions, or higher-risk decisions to the Director Maintain regulatory approval records, version control, change history, and archival of superseded labels, specifications, and supporting documents Create and maintain finished-product, ingredient, packaging, and customer specifications; verify alignment across formulas, labels, supplier documentation, and approved product information Administer ingredient and supplier approval workflows; collect and organize documentation, track expirations, and prepare approval packages for QA leadership Review supplier onboarding documents and Certificates of Analysis against approved specifications; escalate deviations or risk concerns to the Director Maintain supplier and ingredient documentation, including specifications, allergen statements, letters of guarantee, certifications, and other required records Support regulatory change control for formula, supplier, packaging, and label changes; ensure approved versions are distributed to relevant internal teams, manufacturing sites, and co-manufacturers Complete customer technical questionnaires, specification portals, regulatory letters, and supporting documents using approved source information Support commercialization by completing regulatory documentation and confirming label and specification requirements are met before launch milestones Maintain audit-ready regulatory files and provide requested records for audits, inspections, investigations, customer requests, and recalls Support investigation and correction of labeling, specification, and supplier-documentation errors, including assigned corrective actions and document updates Develop and maintain checklists, templates, and work instructions for routine regulatory documentation processes Partner with R&D, Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to gather source information and support product launches and ongoing maintenance Foster a positive and engaging work environment by maintaining open communication, supporting continuous improvement, and embracing Salt & Straw's values QualificationsQualifications: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience 2+ years of experience in food labeling, regulatory compliance, specifications, supplier documentation, quality assurance, or food manufacturing preferred; relevant internships, co-ops, or academic project experience may be considered Experience with nutrition and labeling software such as Genesis or an equivalent system preferred; willingness and ability to learn required Familiarity with FDA food labeling requirements, allergens, Nutrition Facts, ingredient declarations, claims, specifications, and supplier documentation preferred Experience with document control, artwork review, customer portals, or technical product records preferred HACCP, PCQI, SQF, allergen-management, or food-labeling training preferred but not required at hire; assigned training may be completed as part of role development  Knowledge and Critical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, document control, version control, and follow-through Ability to follow established procedures, checklists, and approval workflows consistently and identify when escalation is required Ability to interpret formulas, supplier specifications, labels, and technical documents with guidance and identify inconsistencies among source records Developing knowledge of food labeling and regulatory requirements and the curiosity to research assigned questions using approved resources Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and recurring documentation tasks Clear written communication, collaboration, judgment, and willingness to ask questions when requirements are unclear Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, document-management systems, and the ability to learn nutrition-labeling and customer-portal tools High integrity and ethics; ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds and identities Fluency in English  Physical Demands: Sitting approximately 70% of the time, standing approximately 15% of the time, and walking approximately 15% of the time Frequent repetitive motion and regular use of a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment Regularly required to talk, hear, and see; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Occasional bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds Regular movement through production, warehouse, laboratory, and office areas, including refrigerated or frozen environments  Work Environment: This is an on-site position based at CKOR, with routine work in office, production, warehouse, and laboratory environments The noise level is usually quiet in office areas and may be loud in production environments;
