We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Residential Program Manager to oversee the daily operations of one of our residential programs. This role combines leadership, clinical support, program management, and direct service to ensure residents receive high-quality, recovery-oriented care in a stable and therapeutic environment.

What You’ll Do

The Residential Program Manager is responsible for the overall direction and operation of the program, including staff supervision, resident support, program quality, and coordination with community providers.

Your time will be focused on:

  • 50% Program Management – Overseeing operations, quality assurance, admissions, and program direction
  • 20% Staffing & Supervision – Leading, mentoring, scheduling, and supporting staff
  • 15% Physical Plant Responsibilities – Supporting a safe, well-maintained living environment
  • 10% Direct Client Services – Providing direct support and crisis intervention when needed
  • 5% Miscellaneous Duties – On-call support, training, and additional agency initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee the daily operations and overall direction of the residential program
  • Support residents in maintaining housing stability and working toward individualized goals
  • Coordinate with referral sources, providers, and community partners to ensure continuity of care
  • Monitor occupancy and support admissions processes to maintain program stability
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation, Medicaid compliance, and quality assurance activities
  • Assist with program evaluations, policy development, and ongoing operational improvements
  • Foster a positive therapeutic environment that promotes recovery, independence, and community integration
  • Communicate effectively with agency leadership and carry out organizational initiatives and recommendations

Staffing & Supervision

  • Hire, supervise, train, and support residential and relief staff
  • Develop staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage
  • Lead staff meetings focused on both clinical and operational needs
  • Provide individualized supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Foster a collaborative team culture centered on communication, accountability, and compassionate care
  • Maintain availability to staff for consultation and support

Physical Plant & Residential Environment

  • Monitor the upkeep and safety of the residence and coordinate maintenance needs
  • Support staff and residents in maintaining a healthy and respectful living environment
  • Work collaboratively with Housing and Facilities teams to address physical plant concerns

Direct Client Services

  • Provide direct support, crisis intervention, and clinical guidance as needed
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents and support independent living skill development
  • Facilitate community meetings and resident engagement opportunities
  • Provide medication administration support and backup coverage when necessary
  • Assist residents with community integration and access to resources

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in the agency on-call system
  • Provide training and mentorship opportunities when requested
  • Support agency-wide initiatives and organizational needs as assigned

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • MHRT-C certification required; MHRT-I within one year of employment
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful community-based mental health experience
  • Supervisory and program management experience preferred
  • Strong clinical skills in crisis intervention, counseling, group work, and community outreach
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness
  • Knowledge of psycho-social rehabilitation principles and dual diagnosis treatment approaches preferred
  • Valid Maine driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to shift between management responsibilities and direct service support as needed

This position works within residential housing programs and office settings supporting adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. The role requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to navigate both operational and clinical responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
