The University of Maine System is looking for a Technical Coordinator to join our Campus Card & Cellular Services IT team. In this role, you'll provide specialized technical and operational support for the systems and technologies that support Campus Card & Cellular Services across the University of Maine System (UMS). You'll work with applications, databases, access control technologies, specialized hardware, and cellular devices while collaborating with UMS IT teams, campus partners, and vendors.Ā 

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new technologies, working across different technical areas, and helping turn technical solutions into reliable services for users across the University.

This full-time role is located on the University of Southern Maine's Portland campus with a work schedule of Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional nights and weekends if needed.Ā 

What You'll Do

  • Support and troubleshoot Campus Card applications, databases, hardware, access control technologies, and related systems.
  • Create and maintain reports, database queries, scripts, and data validation processes that support operations and data integrity.
  • Coordinate and support hardware and software installations, testing, upgrades, and technology deployments.
  • Monitor recurring technical processes and help identify and resolve system and operational issues.
  • Provide technical assistance, consultation, and training to Card Services staff, campus partners, and other users.
  • Support the planning, testing, and implementation of new services, applications, and system enhancements.
  • Develop technical documentation, procedures, user guides, and training resources.
  • Support Card Office technologies and operations, including card production systems, access permissions, and offline lock technologies.
  • Coordinate assigned technical projects and collaborate with UMS IT colleagues, campuses, and vendors to support effective service delivery.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to student employees.

What We're Looking For

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ā 
  • Experience supporting software applications, computer hardware, operating systems, databases, or related technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience working with reports, database queries, scripts, or similar tools supporting technical operations and data integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an interest in learning new technologies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while collaborating effectively with technical colleagues and campus partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Campus Card, identity, access control, transaction, or similar technologies.
  • Campus Card platforms such as Transact, Best BASIS, Instant ID, or comparable systems.
  • Technology services in a higher education environment.
  • Web content management platforms such as WordPress or Liferay.
  • Technology implementations, technical documentation, or technology training.
  • Relevant information technology certifications.
