GENERAL SUMMARY

 

Assist the Production Department to produce efficiently by keeping tooling and equipment in good working order. Provide direction to Tool & Die Makers to ensure timely repair and Preventative Maintenance.

 

This position is eligible for a $2,500.00 sign on bonus (paid in 2 installments), after working 180 days. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Work from tool room schedule to ensure that production tooling and equipment is ready to meet customer requirements.
  2. Troubleshoot tooling problems at presses.
  3. Work with all employees to continuously improve quality and production.
  4. Work on production equipment when necessary to maintain production.
  5. Requisition supplies and spare parts for tool room and dies and keep these areas organized.
  6. Maintain clean work areas and ensure that all others do the same.
  7. Work with outside tradesman as required.
  8. Available for overtime as required.
  9. Available for training as required.
  10. Suggest methods of improvement (i.e. Continuous Improvement Plan)
  11. Interpret prints for tooling modifications, accuracy, &/or improvements.
  12. Work with Engineers to create &/or modify prints to reflect changes.
  13. Perform Preventive maintenance by assignment.
  14. Must be able to make necessary decisions to keep production operating in an efficient manner.
  15. Lead by example.

  17. Ensure all employees follow the safety policies.
  18. Look for ways to improve given the environment.
  19. Keep work areas clean.
  20. Follow all safety rules.
  21. Follow the lockout/tagout procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • Tool & Die Maker 6 yrs. minimum
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years stamping experience. (automotive preferred)

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Toolmaker or 6 yrs. experience in tool and die field.

 

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Certified Tool and Die Maker or relevant experience.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and able to make and meet specific goals in the Tooling Department.
  • Willing to learn simple electronics for sensor program assistance.
  • Must have an ability to effectively lead a group of people in a direction that most benefits the company.

 

Language Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English). For the Mexico division this is preferred, not required.

 

 Computer/Software:

  • Willing to learn or possess computer skills including Excel, Word, Shop Edge, PowerPoint, and CAD.

  • Mistake Proofing Philosophy
  • IATF16949/ISO14001
  • TQPS

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Plant:  Various types of manufacturing environments.

Travel: Minimal

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

Standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching and lifting required daily

Must be able to lift 35 lbs. multiple times throughout the day

   

Must be able to lift 75 lbs. 3 - 4 times per day
