What You’ll Do
- Perform venipuncture including jugular, cephalic, and saphenous blood draws
- Place catheters and assist with fluid therapy
- Safely restrain patients for diagnostics, treatments, and procedures using fear-free techniques whenever possible
- Provide patient care and comfort during treatment and hospitalization
- Assist with radiographs, sample collection, medical procedures, and surgical support
- Maintain clean, organized treatment, exam, surgical, kennel, and dental areas
- Restock supplies, maintain laundry, and unpack orders as needed
- Fill prescriptions accurately and maintain treatment area organization
- Educate clients on vaccines, protocols, follow-up care, and home care instructions
- Prepare estimates and discuss financial commitments professionally with clients
- Maintain accurate medical records using eVet/Pulse
- Collaborate closely with doctors and team members to support seamless patient care
- Provide compassionate support to clients during difficult situations
What Our Veterinary Assistants Bring
- Previous veterinary hospital experience required
- Basic knowledge of drug calculations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to anticipate patient and doctor needs
- Comfort working with computers and office equipment; eVet/Pulse experience is a plus
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Passion for animals and empathy for their owners
