The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a certified full-time law enforcement officer to work a 10-week seasonal assignment providing law enforcement coverage on Long Island, Maine in Casco Bay this summer.  Employment dates are July 1, 2026 through September 6, 2026.  This is a non-exempt, 40 hours per week position.  Pay is $36.72/hr. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. The County is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

  • 10-week assignment (Summer 2026);

  • 40 hours per week;

  • Respond to calls for service and provide general law enforcement coverage on the island.

Housing Provided:
A private cottage on Long Island is available at no cost for the deputy and their family during the assignment.

Requirements

  • Current certification to serve as a full-time law enforcement officer through the MCJA or other recognized state agency;

  • Ability to commit to the entire ten week period.

This is a unique opportunity to spend the summer working in one of Maine’s most beautiful coastal island communities while providing important law enforcement coverage.
