Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated Junior Enterprise Developer / Junior Software Developer who is keen to learn and grow. You don’t need to know everything from day one — if you have a basic foundation in programming and a genuine interest in building systems, working with data, and supporting useful internal tools, we’ll support you with the rest.

In this role, you’ll help develop and improve the systems that keep the business running. You’ll work with data, integrations, automation, and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence, gaining experience across a wide range of technologies

Responsibilities will include:

Development & Automation

  • Write simple scripts or small features in the programming languages you’re learning.
  • Help maintain and enhance internal tools and automations.
  • Support small frontend fixes when needed (training provided).

Working With Data

  • Help extract, clean, and organise data from business systems.
  • Support the creation of structured data for dashboards, workflows, or reports.
  • Assist with data checks and help resolve data inconsistencies.

Systems Integration

  • Work with senior developers to build or maintain integrations between systems.
  • Help with tasks involving APIs, scheduled scripts, or small data pipelines.
  • Learn how internal systems talk to each other and how to keep them reliable.

Supporting JIRA & Confluence

(Training provided — no prior experience required.)

  • Help maintain project boards, fields, templates, and structures.
  • Support automation rules, workflow changes, or synchronisation processes.
  • Assist teams with organising and improving their JIRA/Confluence usage.

Qualifications and Experience:

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Some experience with at least one programming language
(Python or JavaScript are especially useful, but any solid foundation is fine.)
  • Eagerness to learn new languages and tools as needed.
  • Basic understanding of SQL or interest in learning how to work with databases.
  • Familiarity with APIs (or willingness to learn how REST APIs and JSON work).
  • Willingness to work with JIRA & Confluence, with full support and training provided.
  • Basic Git usage (committing, branching, pull requests) — or willingness to learn.
  • Curious and willing to learn.
  • Comfortable asking questions and working with others.
  • Able to explain what you're working on in simple terms.
  • Enjoy solving problems and figuring out how things work.

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
