Teledyne DGO is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support the Engineering team in the development, testing, assembly, and improvement of products and manufacturing processes. This hands-on role bridges the gap between engineering design and production by assisting with prototypes, conducting tests, preparing technical documentation, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Build, assemble, and test prototypes, assemblies, and production equipment.
Support engineers with product development, validation, and qualification activities.
Conduct mechanical, electrical, optical, environmental, and functional testing as required.
Collect, document, and analyze test data and prepare reports.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and work instructions.
Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and product-related issues.
Create and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and engineering records.
Support implementation of process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and test equipment safely and effectively.
Assist with new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change implementation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, test, laboratory, or engineering support environment preferred.
Experience with mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
Experience supporting engineering testing and data collection preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Proficiency using precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to accurately document technical information and test results.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fiber optic, electromechanical, aerospace, defense, or marine products.
Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering documentation control processes.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Repetitive use of hands for assembly and testing activities.
Regular use of computer and laboratory/test equipment.
